There are 4 pathways for quantity surveyor skill assessment.

  1. Australian Accreditation Qualification with a minimum of one year of Postgraduate Employment after studies. AIQS-accredited courses can be found by clicking here.
  2. Non-Accredited Australian Qualification with a minimum of two years of experience after completing studies.
  3. Overseas Qualified Applicants with a minimum of two years of postgraduate employment.
  4. Voting member of AIQS or recognized association and a minimum of one year of full-time post-study experience. Minimum bachelor’s degree AQF Level 7. The following are the AIQS-recognized associations.

Quantity Surveyor ANZSCO 233213 Skill Assessment English Language Skills Requirements

Quantity Surveyors Skill assessment applicants who hold a valid passport from the following countries do not require to undertake an English test.

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • New Zealand
  • the Republic of Ireland
  • the United Kingdom
  • the United States of America

Applicants holding an Australian bachelor’s degree or who have completed a Quantity Surveying/Construction Management and Economics post-graduate qualification from an Australian University are also exempt from an English test.

All other applicants must provide English Language Test Scores within 2 years from the date of the AIQS skill assessment application.

IELTS: 6 Bands in each of the 4 components.

PTE ACADEMIC: 50 scores in each of the 4 components.

TOEFL iBT: Listening 12, Reading 13, Writing 21, Speaking 18.

CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH: ADVANCED CAE: 169 each in all 4 components.

OET: B score in all 4 components.

AIQS Skill Assessment Checklist

Completed application form.

• Payment of assessment fee in Australian Dollars

• Certified color copy of minimum bachelor’s degree equivalent to AQF Level 7 or higher

• Certified color copy of transcripts relating to bachelor’s degree or higher

• Color copies of employment references for each position held (on corporate letterhead) from a supervisor (Quantity surveyor) to include an outline of your role and the main duties performed, specified dates of your role with the organization, and referrer’s qualifications, and contact details

• Color copies of each supervisor’s qualifications

• Certified color copy of a clear passport-size photo taken within the last four (4) weeks with confirmation in the form of a declaration that it is a true likeness of the applicant and the date of this confirmation.

• Certified color copy of the bio page of your current passport, in addition to certified color copies of at least two of the following documents:

o Birth certificate

o Where possible, an Australian visa (supported by a foreign passport, which is needed for verification) OR

ImmiCard

o At least one other official photo-bearing document

o ID Card where relevant.

Certified Copies

A certified copy is a copy of an original document that is certified as a true copy by an authorized person. Authorized persons include Justices of the Peace (JPs), legal practitioners, and Police Officers. Documents must be certified as per the standards listed on the Department of Home Affairs certification page.

If your application/qualifications are not in English, you must provide certified color copies of both the original language document and an English translation carried out by an authorized translator https://www.naati.com.au/.

Ensure that your certified documents are dated no older than 12 months from the date of submission.

Academic Transcripts

An academic transcript is a document issued to you, in your name, by your educational institution outlining the subjects studied in your qualification course, years studied, and often your results in each subject. Assessment of qualifications includes an assessment of your course content so please provide transcripts for each year of the course.

Regarding Transcripts or Statements of Marks, the documents provided need to meet the following criteria:

• Be on University letterhead

• Clearly state subjects studied

• Clearly state the semester each subject was studied

• Clearly state the course in which the subjects were studied

• Clearly state the assessment grade of each subject

• Include any prior learning which directly contributed to the successful completion of the degree

Reference Letters

Reference letters must meet the following requirements:

• Must be written by a Quantity Surveyor who has directly supervised your work.

• Must be on company letterhead (if the Supervisor writing your reference has moved to another organization, they may use the letterhead of the company they now work for and state the name of the company where they worked with you).

• Must be dated (include the date the letter was signed).

• Must outline your role and the main duties performed in this role.

• Must include specified commencement and end dates of your role with the organization.

• Must include contact details of the referrer.

• Must include the qualifications and postnominals of the person signing the reference letter (ie: BSc QS if has a Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying and MRICS is a chartered member of RICS etc.) • Must include a color copy of all referrer’s qualifications.

*Where multiple reference letters are provided, each letter should be uniquely written by your supervisor and must not contain in whole, or part copied sections or paragraphs from other reference letters.
