English Requirement for Subclass 485 Visa Australia Post Study Stream
If you hold a valid passport from the United States of America, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, or the Republic of Ireland, you’re in luck! You won’t need to provide English proficiency test results. If you’re not a citizen of any of these countries, you’ll have to demonstrate your English proficiency through one of several recognized tests. These tests should have been taken within the last three years.
Here are the requirements for each test:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS):
You’ll need an overall score of at least 6.5, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each of the four parts: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT):
Your total score should be at least 83. You need a minimum score of 7 for listening, 8 for reading, and at least 18 for writing and 16 for speaking.
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic):
To meet the English proficiency requirement, you’ll need an overall score of at least 57, with a minimum score of 43 of listening, 48 for reading, 42 for speaking, and 51 for writing.
Occupational English Test (OET):
You must achieve at least a grade B in each of the four parts.
Cambridge C1 Advanced Test:
Your overall score should be at least 176, with a minimum score of at least 162 in each of the four test components.
