The following are the English requirements for TSS subclass 482 visas in various streams unless the exemptions apply.

482 Visa Short-term Stream English Requirements

To submit a valid subclass 482 application in the short-term stream, an applicant must have the following English test scores in the last 3 years before the date of submitting a valid TSS visa application.

OET	At least B in all 4 components.

482 Visa Medium-term Stream English Requirements

To submit a valid subclass 482 application in the medium-term stream, an applicant must have the following English test scores in the last 3 years before the date of submitting a valid Temporary Skill Shortage Visa Application.

Occupational English Test (OET)	Minimum 4 in all components.

482 Visa Labour Stream English Requirements

To submit a valid subclass 482 (TSS) visa application in the Labour Stream, an applicant must satisfy the English test requirements which are specified in the labour agreement between the applicant’s employer and the commonwealth government.

482 Visa English Requirement Exemptions

To submit a valid subclass 482 (TSS) visa application, an applicant may be exempt from providing English test results if one of the following apply.

1. The following passport holders are exempt from proving English language proficiency.
   • Canada
   • New Zealand
   • The Republic of Ireland
   • The United Kingdom (UK)
   • The United States of America (USA)
2. If an applicant has completed at least 5 years of full-time study in a secondary-level institution where most classes were in English. The following information will be required from the applicant:
   • Name and location of education institution.
   • Level of Qualifications
   • Official Transcripts
   • Number of contact hours every week in English
   • Number of years of study
3. An applicant for a 482 TSS visa is exempt if their nominated occupation in Australia will be performed at:
   • Diplomatic or consular mission of another country in Australia.
   • An Office of the Authorities of Taiwan
4. An applicant of subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage Visa is exempt from English Language proficiency if the applicant needs to hold a license, registration, or membership and the applicant was granted one that requires higher English Language Proficiency than that required for 482 visas.
5. An applicant of a 482 visa who is earning a minimum of $96,400 and is an employee of an overseas business, who is nominating the applicant through their business or its associate entity in Australia.
