A prospective 491 visa applicant first lodges an Expression of Interest (EOI). If the Department of Home Affairs selects the EOI for the 491 visa family-sponsored stream, the applicant must provide documents supporting the points they have claimed in their EOI. For the 491 visas sponsored by the state, the applicant must satisfy the points according to their EOI and nomination.
