Do I need to do anything before I book my BUPA appointment?
A visa applicant who is looking to book a BUPA visa medical service must complete the eMedical Client process as explained on the Department of Home Affairs website.
If a visa application is lodged online, the system will automatically direct to use eMedical Client service.
For paper visa applications a visa applicant can use this service via eMedical Client.
How do I book my BUPA medical and health assessment?
After the visa has been lodged, a migration consultant or registered migration agent who has lodged a visa application for their client would generate a medical document associated with the visa application. This medical assessment or examination document contains HAP ID.

I am unable to attend my BUPA medical examination. What should I do?
If you cannot attend your BUPA health assessment, it is very important to either cancel or change your BUPA medical appointment by using the same phone number and the appointment link above. A visa applicant looking to make any changes to their BUPA medical assessment will need their HAP ID handy.
What time should I arrive at a BUPA visa medical centre in Australia?
Since all the BUPA medical appointments are scheduled, it is advised by BUPA that the patients arrive on time. Arriving too early is also not advised for BUPA medical appointments.
How long will take for my BUPA medical examination?
BUPA advises that it takes approximately 2 hours for visa medical examination.
What do I need to bring to my BUPA visa medical assessment?
You need to bring the following things to your BUPA medical examination:
- Your valid passport.
- HAP ID or e-Medical Referral Letter.
- Prescription glasses or contact lenses.
- Specialist’ reports about your medical or health condition.
Important information for women and children for their BUPA Visa Medical or Health Assessment:
Pregnant Women:
Women looking to book their BUPA visa medical examination cannot make a booking if their pregnancy term is less than 14 weeks. If a visa applicant is pregnant with more than 14 weeks term, they need to contact BUPA call centre on 1300 794 919 to make a BUPA Visa medical booking.
Menstruation:
BUPA health examinations for visa purposes cannot be conducted during menstruating. BUPA medical appointments should be rescheduled 4 to 6 days after the menstruating is finished.
Children Under 6 months old:
Children who are less than 6 months old and born in Australia are not required to undertake BUPA medical assessment for visa purposes. Instead, the visa processing officer is required to submit a paper request on applicant’s behalf.
Children 2- to 11-Year-old:
As per Department of Home Affairs policy, children who are aged between 2 and 11 years and are migrating from specific countries require a blood test for TB when they visit for their BUPA medical assessment. The HAP letter will show it as exam 719.
