The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) has endorsed the VETASSESS skills assessment criteria for the occupation of Landscape Architect. This endorsement ensures that landscape architects seeking to migrate to Australia can be confident that the assessment criteria are relevant to the needs of Australian employers and industry.
According to AILA Chief Executive Officer Ben Stockwin, there is a high demand for registered landscape architects in Australia. The industry is actively addressing skills shortages and has opportunities for qualified overseas candidates. Landscape architects can find employment in a range of organizations, from small companies to multi-disciplinary architectural firms. As such AILA is endorsing VETASSESS skills assessment criteria for Landscape Architect.
Stockwin also noted that an increasing number of state and local governments, as well as public sector agencies, are hiring landscape architects to incorporate urban green infrastructure into towns and cities. Working with VETASSESS on the assessment criteria ensures that the educational and employment requirements are up to date and meet the needs of the profession.
