Registrations are now open for the Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) for the 2025–26 program year. This visa gives people from selected Pacific Island countries and Timor-Leste a pathway to live permanently in Australia.
The application process begins with a ballot, which is free to enter. It is a random selection system, and only those who are selected will be invited to apply for the visa itself.
What is the Pacific Engagement Visa?
The Pacific Engagement Visa is a permanent visa, by the Australian Government. It is designed to support the relationship between Australia and the Pacific region by allowing eligible individuals and families to settle in Australia without needing a job offer or meeting a skilled migration points test. It also gives access to essential services such as public healthcare through Medicare, public schooling for children, and subsidized childcare.
Registration Dates and Process
The registration period for the ballot is from 28 July to 25 August 2025. It is free to register, and only one registration per person is allowed.
Names will be randomly selected. If your name is chosen, you will receive an invitation to apply for the visa. This does not mean your visa is approved. You will still need to meet health, character, and other requirements as part of the full application.

People from the following countries can enter the 2025–26 ballot:
- Palau
- Solomon Islands
- Timor-Leste
- Tonga
- Papua New Guinea
- Samoa
- Federated States of Micronesia
- Fiji
- Kiribati
- Nauru
- Vanuatu
Australia has reserved 3,000 places for the Pacific Engagement Visa in this program year. Both individuals and families can register.
